1837 -- Twice-told Tales published.

1846 -- Mosses from an Old Manse published.

1850 -- The Scarlet Letter published.

1852 -- The House of Seven Gables published.

1852 -- The Blithedale Romance published.

1853 -- Nathaniel Hawthorne receives from his friend Franklin Pierce, on his election to the Presidency, the appointment of United States Consul at Liverpool.

1860 -- The Marble Faun published in England under the title of The Transformation.

1864 -- Nathaniel Hawthorne dies.
